How do I perform a restore with LiveVault?

Restoring from LiveVault can be an easy process if you have access to the LiveVault interface, so have a look at the below for some quick steps.

If you wish to restore an entire machine and system state, please contact our support team as there will be extra considerations. If restoring just files or folders, please follow these instructions.

Note: You cannot restore to a mapped network drive

If restoring to the same machine

  • Log in to the LiveVault portal https://livevaultservice.livevault.com
  • On the web interface, browse to the machine you wish to restore data from and start a new restore job.
  • Select the folders you wish to restore.
  • Select the Options tab and specify the path (you can select to restore to a different path to not replace the existing files).
  • Select Done (It will require you name the restore job).
  • A % bar will show up in the restore tab, network usage + size of restore can be used to roughly calculate how long this will take, though different file sizes at different points of the restore will vary this.

If restoring to a new machine

  • If restoring to a different/new machine, Install Livevault Agent on a machine to restore to.
  • Log in to the LiveVault portal https://livevaultservice.livevault.com
  • Select to add your new machine as a new computer.
  • Open LiveVault Configuration Wizard on the new machine and add encryption keys for the computer which you wish to restore from (this should be the first option, you will have been given this key when the LiveVault agent was first installed on the initial machine).
  • On the web interface, browse to the machine you wish to restore data from and start a new restore job.
  • Select the folders you wish to restore.
  • Select the Options tab and select to restore to a different machine, and specify the path.
  • Select Done (It will require you name the restore job).
  • A % bar will show up in the restore tab, network usage + size of restore can be used to roughly calculate how long this will take, though different file sizes at different points of the restore will vary this.
