- Create recovery media if you may need to perform a full bare-metal restore. Recovery media is not required for file-level restores.
- Sign in to the computer protected by the Veeam Agent.
- From the Start menu, search for Create Recovery Media, or find it under the Veeam folder.
- Choose ISO image. For a physical server, you can instead connect a USB drive and create bootable media directly.
- If you are creating an ISO, save it in a protected location where it will not be deleted, for example: C:\VeeamRecoveryMedia-DO-NOT-DELETE\VeeamRecoveryMedia.iso.
- Create the destination folder in File Explorer first, if required.
- Wait for the process to finish. It normally takes a few minutes and uses approximately 700 MB.
- If you created a bootable USB drive, store it securely so it is available for a bare-metal restore.
- If you create an ISO, copy it to another computer or an external drive, or use it later to create a bootable USB drive.
- Alternatively, leave the ISO on the protected computer so Veeam Agent backs it up. Do not delete it. If required, recover the ISO from another computer by using a file-level restore, then use it to create bootable media.
